Kelly Ripa's Quarantine Makeup Hack is Actually Pretty Crafty
First it was Lola's clothing, now it's self-tanner.
Many of us who have begun working from home during the global coronavirus pandemic have been forced to get a little creative with our beauty routines. We can't go get haircuts or color for our hair, so we're making do. Same with makeup – if you can't get your normal products, you're going to have to improvise during these times.
That's exactly what Kelly Ripa has been doing. Since she can't get to most of her makeup and typical beauty products, she's using the next best thing: her daughter Lola's self-tanner.
On a recent Instagram Live ballet session with dancer Tiler Peck on Saturday (April 18), Ripa opened up about how she's been using her 18-year-old daughter's self-tanner as a fix for her makeup products being just out of reach.
"I keep putting on my daughter's self-tanner, thinking that will help," Ripa said of her situation. "All of my clothes, all of my hair products, and all of my makeup is locked in the studio, which is closed because of everything that is going on." She took a moment to reflect on how lucky she is to have a place for storage, but also joked about the pitfalls of privilege.
"I realized it was such a blessing to have this place to keep everything," she said. "So now I'm just in an 18-year-old's self-tanner and workout clothes." Ripa has been getting glammed up since she's been hosting her show from home while in quarantine alongside husband Mark Consuelos, sons Michael and Joaquin, and Lola. Lola has been something of a fashion consultant for her mom while the host has been at home, something Kelly has appreciated.
"What I have in our storage closet is bathing suits for summertime," Kelly shared. "I had a one-piece and I put it on and my daughter said, 'Do yourself a favor and do not wear that on Instagram. I know that you think right now it’s great, but later on, I promise you will hate it.'"
In fact, on Tuesday's edition of Live With Kelly and Ryan, Ripa noted that she was "running out of things to wear for the show," stating she was "now in her daughter's clothes."
"It's gone there," she joked. Looks like mother and daughter are inadvertently getting closer than ever before.
