Shamard Charles, MD, MPH, is an experienced health journalist and public health doctor. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Health Promotion at St. Francis College. Dr. Charles previously served as the senior health journalist for NBC News. He has been featured on various journalistic platforms including an NPR feature for his reporting on the death of Black men in medicine. He has also written and produced stories in Nigeria covering public health topics and can be found on the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, NBC News Now, Today,, and the Grio.


Dr. Charles received his medical degree from Brown University. He received a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health and his Bachelor's degree from New York University.
