Experience

Réven Smalls Widener is a former behavioral health professional with 3 years of experience educating and supporting patients dealing with chronic pain. As an intern then a psychometrist and counseling trainee for a behavioral health department, Réven collaborated with pain clinic medical staff to assist in the care of patients dealing with pain.

She provided education about behavioral health pain management methods and how they could contribute to patients' treatment plans alongside other options such as aquatherapy, physical therapy, medications, and injections or blocks. Réven also conducted sessions of opioid education; sleep hygiene education; relaxation coaching, including basic training for biofeedback; supervised individual therapy; and pain, emotional, and neurological assessment administration.

I want to educate others about opportunities for early intervention for and management of physical and mental health conditions—potential or current.

Réven has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University in Clemson, SC, where she double-majored in English and psychology. She also earned a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology from Augusta University in Augusta, GA and a Master of Arts degree in professional writing from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
