2. Fitness memberships

Exercise and physical activity can help you maintain and improve your health. That's why many Aetna Medicare plans include the SilverSneakers® program, which gives you access to over 16,000 participating fitness facilities across the country at no extra cost to you. In certain locations, you'll also have your pick of group classes led by certified instructors, so you can change up your workout routine as often as you'd like. It's included in your plan at no added cost to you.

3. Behavioral health support

Our minds and bodies are interconnected and have enormous influence on one another. Depending on your health care needs, Aetna Medicare Advantage plans provide you access to behavioral health case managers. These behavioral health case managers offer extra support, in addition to your Medicare-covered inpatient and outpatient mental health benefits, to help you manage your emotional well-being and ensure that your physical and mental health care are coordinated.

4. Meals at Home program

Some of Aetna's plans offer a Meals at Home program to help you recover from an inpatient stay and manage your health conditions. After discharge from an inpatient hospital, or in some cases a skilled nursing facility, your Aetna® care manager or another licensed health care provider will determine your eligibility and arrange for the meals to be delivered to your home or wherever you're staying during your recovery.

5. Companion services

Managing a chronic condition is easier when you have friends to lean on. Do you need help with chores around the house? Can't figure out how to get the printer working? Want someone to look at old pictures with and reminisce? Aetna has partnered with Papa, an on-demand assistance service to help people stay independent while living securely and happily at home. You can contact your Aetna care manager to find out if you qualify for this service. If you do, Papa will connect you to a college student in your area who can spend time with you and help you with your everyday needs. You can schedule up to ten hours a month for these services. This service is only available for certain plans in Florida.

6. Care management for hyperlipidemia or hypertension

If you're living with hyperlipidemia or hypertension, you know how important it is to monitor your blood pressure and go to your doctor regularly for checkups. Aetna works with transportation companies to provide 48 one-way trips for members with hyperlipidemia and hypertensions through a care management program. You'll also receive one blood pressure monitor, so you can stay on top of your numbers wherever you are. This program is offered on 11 plans.

7. 24-hour nurse line

Getting in to see your doctor can take time, and sometimes you just need a quick answer to a minor health question. Or maybe your concern can't wait until you see your doctor. Aetna Medicare Advantage plans offer you access to a 24-hour nurse line. You can talk to a registered nurse day or night to get help with understanding your symptoms, managing chronic conditions, navigating the health care system, and more.

8. Health and wellness coaching

Looking to lose weight? Quit smoking? Or manage stress better? In addition to a quality provider network that provides all standard Medicare-covered mental health counseling benefits, many Aetna Medicare Advantage plans offer health and wellness coaching and general therapy sessions to help work through life events, so you can reach your personal health goals. You can work with nurses, dietitians, and wellness coaches to address your health issue and make a plan that is attainable. Having a support system can make all the difference in sticking to your goals.
