Track trouble spots online

Flu season has a beginning, a peak, and an end. (Roughly November to May in North America, with the peak in February.) But during that time, flu activity is local—your town or state might be a flu hot spot, while other parts of the country are blissfully sniffle-free. There are a number of online tools and websites that can help you figure out if your regional flu activity is high, including Google Flu Trends, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Twitter maps, which have been used to track H1N1 flu activity according to "tweets." Ramp up protective measures when flu is circulating in your community.
