The Workout That Demi Lovato Says Makes Her Feel Sexy in Bikini Photo
The singer says she loves the sport for not only making her feel confident, but also for giving her the strength to defend herself in any situation.
Demi Lovato gave her fans serious FOMO this week by posting some gorgeous photos from her incredible vacay in Bora Bora. Even though she's back to the real world now (womp, womp), the singer took a moment to share how appreciative she was of her body when she was enjoying the sun and living her best life.
Following a jiu-jitsu sesh, Lovato posted a throwback photo of herself wearing a stunning high-waisted, leopard-print swimsuit. She wrote that she was inspired to share the photo because she was feeling "high on life" after a tough workout.
"I'm sweaty and not looking this glamorous right now but f*ck I feel awesome," she wrote.
The singer added that the sexy snap made her feel empowered. "I like this pic where I feel sexy and I can also defend myself from anyone that ever tries to attack me," she wrote. "Any size, any shape, any gender. I have security but in the moments I'm alone I feel confident (no pun intended) that I can hold my own against an attacker and hope everyone finds something they become as passionate about as I feel about jiu-jitsu."
Lovato has often been open about her love for mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu in particular. Nearly 10 months after her apparent overdose, she shared that she's continuing to improve in the sport.
She posted to her Instagram Stories back in March, "2nd-degree blue belt!!!!" along with a photo of her new stripe. "This means the world to me and I couldn't be happier. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a passion of mine and I can't wait to learn more and more."
For those who might not be familiar with Lovato's journey, her path to a healthy lifestyle has not been an easy one. Since opening up about her struggles with eating disorders, self-harm, addiction, and body hate, she's become one of our favorite body-positive role models and continues to serve up some serious workout inspiration.
After all that she's been through, it's inspiring to see her continue to embrace her body, find strength and confidence through movement, and encourage others to do the same.
