Experience

Apple Mandy has worked in print and digital publishing for the past 15 years. She started her career as a food writer for That's Shanghai, the city's premiere English-language publication, reporting on food trends, profiling culinary personalities, and reviewing more than 100 new restaurants and bars.

Apple moved to Hong Kong in 2010, where she spearheaded the editorial lineups for Squarefoot.com.hk and InsideDB. She then switched to communications, doing in-house marketing first for a Hong Kong-based restaurant group, then for a Hong Kong award-winning public relations agency.

Following her time in the communications industry, she returned to journalism and worked as an assistant editor for The Peak, a luxury magazine owned by South China Morning Post, where she wrote and published features profiling local and international chefs, including Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa’s rise to culinary fame and Hong Kong restaurateurs’ secret to success.

Education

Apple studied Arts Management at College of Saint Benilde in Manila, the Philippines. After graduating, she took Chinese-Language certification courses at Fudan University in Shanghai.
