Alexandria Jones-Patten is a registered nurse and health writer. She has worked in street medicine serving populations experiencing homelessness in Skid Row Los Angeles as well as in cardiovascular care in the hospital setting. Her research background includes substance use and mental health among populations experiencing homelessness, and cardiovascular disease among adults. More recently, she has published research in Clinical Nursing Research and Journal of Substance Use.

I write on health topics with the goal of simplifying medical conditions into digestible chunks so readers can live longer, healthier lives.


Alexandria received a PhD in nursing from the University of California, Irvine. She has also earned a master's degree in both nursing and business administration. She is working as a post-doctoral research fellow at Columbia University, focusing on cardiovascular disease research among minority populations.
