This new organization, which joins two former groups (the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse and the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information), is a service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Located within the Children's Bureau in the Administration for Children and Families, the Child Welfare Information Gateway promotes the welfare of children and families by bringing together timely and essential information for citizens as well as for professionals involved with child welfare, adoption, and related concerns.
