He also serves as the Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the University of Maryland Tarrapins. Dr. Bennett served as the head orthopedic surgeon for the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to his move to the University of Maryland, he was the associate team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers and assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

From 2002 to 2003, Dr. Bennett was the recipient of the American Academy Leadership Fellows Program award. In 2002, he received the Pittsburgh Courier Community Service Award. Dr. Bennett also received the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Faculty Award in 2001.

Dr. Bennett is an accomplished speaker who has presented papers at many national and international professional conferences. He also has demonstrated several surgical techniques at national and international medical conferences.
