Have you ever had side effects from antidepressants?

John felt so nauseated from his antidepressant medication that he couldn’t keep it down. Vomiting is rare, but you may experience a whole host of side effects when you start on antidepressants. Just because certain prescriptions have a high success rate doesn’t mean they are right for you. Most prescriptions are usually well tolerated, but some can cause all sorts of issues—like headaches, fatigue, or insomnia—and it isn’t possible to predict how you will react to different antidepressants. Some side effects are temporary, while others—like dry mouth—you can learn to live with. But even if your side effects are severe, don’t take yourself off your medication. Work with your doctor to determine a prescription that is right for you, with as few side effects as possible. In this video, John explains how he and his doctor tried out several medications until they found one that worked for his depression—and one that was easier on his stomach.
