There are some general “rules” about food and diabetes. For example, carbohydrates found in both healthy and unhealthy foods will cause your blood sugar to rise. But the effect can vary from person to person. You may find that some types of food affect you differently than someone else with diabetes. Nancy tends to avoid pasta because her blood sugar goes too high after she eats it. However, she has no problem with potatoes. You’ll need to fine-tune your diet to see what you can eat to keep blood sugar in the safe zone.
