Have nibbles, will party

To reduce the stress around impromptu holiday visits, food writer/editor Katherine Cobbs always has some go-to snacks at the ready. "There are savory nibbles I always have on hand in the pantry and fridge for unexpected (and expected) guests. Here in the South, I always have Mamie's Cheese Wafer dough in the freezer to slice and bake as needed (makes the house smell delicious too), several varieties of jarred olives plus cornichons, and an airtight container of toasted nuts to whip out when the doorbell rings," she says. Of course, chilled white wine and a good red are mandatory staples, too.
